Safe use of the Internet: Tips for parents.
1) Don't stop your child from using the Internet. Tell them about the dangers and teach them how to protect themselves from them.
2) Place your computer in a supervised part of the house such as the living room and not in secluded areas such as your child's bedroom.
3) Advise your child not to give out personal information (name, address, phone number, photos, etc.) to strangers they meet on the Internet.
4) Supervise your child when they use chatrooms. Don't let your child meet someone they met on the Internet.
5) Suggest to your child the use of age-appropriate educational and entertainment websites. Install on your computer a filter software that prohibits access to inappropriate Internet sites.
